I started this blog because I wanted to share information that wasn't readily available, things you think would be a quick google search. Specifically, in my early 20s I thought it was crazy that in school, they only focused on paying bills on time and keeping debt low as a way to get the ideal credit score. What we really needed to know were things like how student debt would impact our score or how to go about applying for the right credit card. The financial institutions that I banked with had no resources on the matter. I had to do my own research to eventually find a website with a list of phone numbers to financial companies that offered free advice. The best source I found was woman I talked to from one of those listings. She informed me that each financial institution pulls your score from different credit reporting agencies (Transunion, Equifax, Experian, and FICO that will combine variations of those scores) and each credit reporting company has their own system of measurement. However, your financial institution is not going to tell you this outright.

Beyond that, she wasn't able to tell me anything else. I think at the time my TransUnion score was slightly lower and that was the score my institution used to reject my application, with a vague reason. They even did the pre-approval for the card, which I took lightly, but what a sham! All in all, I ended up getting a secured card (where you give them a certain amount of money as collateral) which can help people who don't have much credit history (me) or those who have bad credit, build their score. It's just that, no one can give you any direction here, it's all seemed like guessing and gambling--with something so crucial to your financial health.

My hope is that instead of you having 20 tabs open in a browser; making dead end calls; and stressing for a month to find the answers to your question, you can just come here. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I don't know about you, but growing up my mom and I would always joke about wishing we had a book to give us all the answers. Kinda like that--but-- I am just one person so don't get your hopes up.๐Ÿ˜ฌAnd I'm not sure if Google will grace either of us with my blog as a top result, but you never know!

What is Sarcasm and Success, though, why the name? I just thought about my personality and the way I use satire to talk about some of the ridiculous things we have to navigate in life.  A comedian among the friends, if you will and to others maybe a dark and hyper-realistic person. We won't dig too deep there, humor is the antidote that's all I can say. There is some satire in the title itself, to me it implies that success is silly. It's really only something you, yourself can measure. As I am entering my 30s, I'm coming to peace with that fact. Think about what it means to you, what is really important to you, not everyone else?

Anyways, we are trying to have fun here too, so I'll give you a few fun facts about me:
  • I enjoy research, data, statistics, and the humanities. I never want to mislead you here, I research as much as my full time job allows!
  • I am a super taster and I love food: cooking it, eating it, and especially quick recipes that seem like they'd take hours.
  • I am an Astrology enthusiast, it ebbs and flows.
  • I write too much, I'm working on it, I promise.
  • I adore cats and miss my two fur babies, Cisco and Wishbone (Dog and Cat), I actually worked for a year at a veterinarian office.
  • I studied Anthropology in school, focusing on the socio-cultural sub-field.
  • Nedra Tawwab is the best content creator and counselor on Instagram, anything she posts, I agree!

I'm keeping my promise on writing and leaving you with the option to reach out if you need to know more. Enjoy and let me know if anything helped you!
